FAQ
We understand families often have questions about the aftercare process. The information below answers some of the most common questions we receive. If you do not see your question here, please feel free to contact us. We are always happy to help.
What are my options for my pet’s aftercare?

Just like with humans, families may choose burial or cremation for their pets. If cremation is chosen, there are two main options- private cremation or communal cremation.
Private cremation means your pet is cremated individually. Only one pet is placed in the cremation chamber at a time, allowing families to receive their pets ashes back.
Communal Cremation is for families who choose not to receive ashes returned. Pets are cremated together, making it impossible to separate individual ashes. These pets are respectfully scattered at our Fetching Halos Farm in a serene setting.
If my pet dies at home, how do I get them to Fetching Halos?
If your pet passes away at home during your veterinarians business hours, you may take them there and let them know you would like to use Fetching Halos for your pets aftercare. We will then transport your pet to Fetching Halos Farm. This is a compimentary service.
You also have the option to bring your pet directly to us if you prefer.
If you are unable or emotionally not ready to transport your pet, we can gently transport them from your home to our facility. Home transport services are available for a small fee. Please contact us for details.
If your pet passes away outside of business hours, you may wrap them in a blanket or towel and place them in a cool, dry location until arrangements can be made. If this is not possible, please contact us to discuss after hour options.
When can I expect my pets ashes back?
In most cases, ashes will be returned to families within approximately one week.

Can I have something cremated with my pet?
Yes. Families are welcome to include small items such as toys as long as they do not contain metal or steel.
Where is my pet kept prior to cremation?
Pets entrusted to our care are kept in a clinic- controlled room, not a freezer.

Can I be present during my pets cremation?
Yes. Families who wish to be present may choose witness cremation. Our facility includes a comfortable visitation and viewing room where families may respectfully observe their pet entering the cremation chamber. Witness cremations do need to be scheduled in advance, so please contact us to arrange
this service.
Can I visit the Fetching Halos Farm?
Absolutely, We do ask that families call ahead before visiting to ensure we are available and not transporting other pets. We are happy to show our facility and the care we put into every detail.
Can I make arrangements for my pet ahead of time?
Yes, Many families find comfort in making arrangements ahead of time. Pre-planning allows families to explore their options without feeling rushed during an emotional moment. We are always happy to meet with families and discuss the options available. You are even welcome to bring your pet to visit us- we love meeting them while they are still enjoying life.
What if my veterinarian uses another crematorium but I would like to use Fetching Halos?
Simply let your veterinary office know that you would like to use Fetching Halos for your pet’s aftercare. Your veterinary team can contact us, or you may contact us directly and we will coordinate transportation.
What areas of Missouri do you serve?
We serve West and South Central Missouri including Benton, Camden, Dallas, Henry, Hickory, Pettis, Polk, and St. Clair counties.
Do you euthanize pets?
No. Euthanasia services must be preformed by a licensed veterinarian. If you need help finding a veterinarian, we are happy to help guide you.
Do you only cremate dogs and cats?
No. We provide cremation services for several types of companion animals. At this time we are equipped to handle large animals such as horses or cattle, but we are able to accommodate most other pets.
How do you ensure my pets ashes are returned to me?
Each pet entrusted to Fetching Halos is carefully identified and tracked throughout the entire process to ensure accuracy and integrity. We maintain a strict identification system from the moment your pet is received until their cremated remains are returned to your family. Our goal is to ensure complete accuracy and give families peace of mind during a difficult time.
